last year

the year is starting and i thought on making a little look back and make one post with everything that happened last year music wise... just like a gift, santa's kind of gift... but coming really late. february late. february's gift.

first, on february/march of last year i released an ep called "betweener" on a new dutch label called knopje. it was my first ep in a long time, based in old jams that i had floating around in my computer, if you haven't heard it you can still grab it at some stores i think.

a few month later, in may, i released my second ep of the year called "esoteric/carnaval" on the nice independent label in paradisum, which is run by guillaume (who also runs fool house, another record label) and mondkopf. the guys are french, as well as the record label, which was convenient just because i'm trying to learn a bit of french lately:

je m'appelle ricardo, merci, de rien... ça va? non non, ça va pas! .. mais c'est pas vrai!?

after that, in october last year, i teamed up with my old pal and nice guy called henry saiz, who is doing a lot of touring to australia lately. anyway... we did the "together/teenager ep" which was actually really nice to finally release it, and it worked kind of super nice too. the package also included remixes from jake "fairmont", microbird and sistema.

apart from all that... i also did some remixes, some touring and one of my songs helped to advertise some famous man and his cloth.

h&m ad + remix + podcast + interview

there's a whole load of things happening right now, but i will start for the ones that are already out there. my remix for the french band called trésors is getting the premiere on the nite versions website. 

as you can see, it's the first remix i've done in a while because... i just stopped making remixes for a while :).

you can hear my version below, but there's a lot more to discover if you hear the whole ep. the official release date is october 8th.

before that i did an interview for the really nice guys at inverted audio, you can read that one clicking here and, after hiring that remix, you can take a listen to the podcast i did for them. there will be more podcasts soon... but that's not the issue here.

last but not least, the brand h&m has chosen my song with you for the new david beckham promotion campaign. you know, the guy play football and also design underwear and stuff... the whole thing is really fun and surreal!. please take a look at it here:

I’ve been doing a series of podcasts lately and although that’s not the topic here, they are the main reason why i had become such a fan of djs these days. It’s really difficult to find exciting music lately, everybody knows that, but at the same time it’s such a rewarding experience to find great bands or artists that you never heard about, even if  they are from the 70’s. 

Most of them im using it on my owns dj experiences of late… but i will leave some links here, in case you want to hear them (if you know them already, well...). Also, if you have some band you want to share, please do it.

I have a few gigs in the next days, you can find them on my calendar to the right side of this blog. I need to point that the paris gig is a showcase for border community and is at the "pitch your sunday" event. Once in a while record labels gather in Paris and hang out with more people to talk about... well, i supposed music. Anyway, it's a day event so it would be nice for take some sun at the side of the canal, come by and say hi if you want, I play at 14:30.

my next tunes will be out soon enough to start this summer, the vinyl will see the light on may 14 and the digital version on 28 of may , i already wrote something about it on my facebook page but here's the real deal: it will contain 4 tracks of some weird or not so weird techno... pretentious, ah?

Betweener EP is already out and in stock in some nice stores and apparently Juno records have my old single called "boy love girl" on sale!... so you can grab them both. The Betweener vinyl version is a bit limited (400 copies) but don't fear cause the digital version it's coming out really soon.

Release party in Holland this friday 20

There's going to be a massive release party for my Betweener Ep on Billabong Club this friday on Nijmegen, Holland. I will be playing a brand new live set and the nice people at Knopje Musik will be selling the Ep there too, like the good old times... at least that's the rumor. If you think these is not a good excuse to come to our little shamanic act, the whole thing is apparently free... What more can we ask?

So bring your party lazers and earplugs cause is going to be loud!!!!
